Natsuno sleeps fitfully, exhausted from loss of blood. Sometime in the night, Tooru comes again to feed.
Monday, October 19, Tomobiki[]
In the morning, Yuuki discovers Natsuno dead. Natsuno's mother can't bear it, and leaves the village for good.
At the Ozaki Clinic, Tokujirou Yasumori has fallen ill. He tells Dr. Ozaki that he dreams of Nao, just as his wife did. Then he goes on about how he won't stay at the hospital. The doctor got the same message from another patient, Isami Maeda recently, and realizes that they have been commanded to say this. Isami's wife, Motoko was distraught.
Dr. Ozaki's mother, Takae, brings news that his wife, Kyouko, has collapsed due to the illness. The doctor hadn't even noticed her worsening condition over the last few days. The doctor has been digging up Setsuko every day to see whether she has turned into a shiki, but upon the third exhumation, discovered that the body had started to rot. Dr. Ozaki gets a phone call from Seishin. The doctor's obsession with the shiki has created a division between the two of them. Upon hearing that Kyouko is hospitalized, Seishin offers to stand watch, like they did with Setsuko, but the doctor declines. Seishin has another concern. His father Shinmei, paralyzed from a stroke has, demanded to see Tokujirou.
