October 2, Sunday, Butsumetsu
On October 2nd at the Tanaka household, Akira receives a phone call from Natsuno. Natsuno warns him that his family may invite undead into the house. He tells him to make sure they're turned away.
Masao reminisces about his death...
He was attacked by Yuzuki. After being attacked, no one looked in on him because of the fuss after Hiromi Murasako died. Aoi Mutou and Tamotsu Mutou came by to apologize for telling him off the other day. He was afraid because the librarian was coming to his room at night.
The librarian told him not to tell anyone. He couldn't disobey. This continued for four nights. He felt like he couldn't breath, and clawed desperately at his throat. On September 20th, he died alone.

He awakened in a shack. Tatsumi was there and told him that he had been resurrected. That he was special for rising up. Hiromi had died and rotted, and Masao had become their valued comrade. Masao drank from the cup of blood prepared for him, and a few days later attacked and killed a human, to join the shiki.
October 4, Wednesday, Shakkou
Masao tries to talk to Shizuka Matsuo, but she is diffident to him as a hatchling shiki. Tatsumi holds a meeting to explain the plan to attack the Ozaki clinic. Tatsumi then reviews plans for the killing of Natsuno. Megumi interrupts, not wanting Natsuno to be hurt. Nao tries to cheer her up, but Megumi taunts her over how her family, Susumu and Mikiyasu, did not rise, causing Nao to burst into tears.
Natsuno confronts his father over the talismans which have gone missing from his room. Yuuki won't put up with such superstitions. Natsuno arms himself with a wrench to fight the shiki when they come. He hears a knock at the window...
