At Megumi's empty grave, Natsuno, Akira and Kaori examine Takatoshi's body, the person that Natsuno has just clobbered. They decide to bury the body in the grave, and pretend nothing happened. None of them sleep well that night.
Akira and Kaori can't get to sleep
October 2, Sunday, Butsumetsu[]
The three of them meet back at the gravesite. The body is gone, the grave filled in, and the marker is set back in place. Old lady Motohashi is being buried today, so they consider digging her up tomorrow, to stake her in the heart, putting her to rest.
At Natsuno's house, a little girl arrives at the door, Shizuka, who talks using a bunraku puppet. She asks Natsuno's father if she can wait in Natsuno's room for him, and is invited in. When Natsuno gets home later, Shizuka has already left out the window.
