Ebuchi informs the Tanaka family that Yoshikazu has died. He then brings out some brochures for the new funeral services business. Yoshikazu has already paid them for the funeral there.
Sunday, October 16, Tomobiki[]
At Sotoba Funeral Services, Hayami explains to Tatsumi the style in which funerals are run.
Tohru leaves flowers outside Natsuno's window. He recalls Shuuji Gotouda, the first villager here to become a shiki. The man has become like an alcoholic, addictively biting himself, and becoming drunk off his own blood. Seishirou Kirishiki tells Tohru to go see Sunako. At the mansion, Sunako brings him coffee. Sunako then tells him her life story, of being turned into a shiki by a stranger who came to town; of how sad and painful her life is. Tohru understands, and realizes that even with the pain, he too, still wants to live. He goes back the next night to Natsuno's house, and says goodbye. With that, Natsuno appears, and greets him.
