Hiroko Shimizu (清水 浩子 Shimizu Hiroko) is wife of Takeo Shimizu and the mother of Megumi Shimizu.

Profile[]
Hiroko lives together with her family in Lower Sotoba. She was first mentioned by Kaori's mother after Megumi disappeared, wondering if they might have seen Megumi. It can be seen that she stand at the door, when her husband and other villagers went in search of Megumi. After Megumi's invention, Megumi closes herself in her room and does not eat, Hiroko and her husband are worried about Megumi's deteriorating health, they call Ozaki to examine Megumi's health condition. Ozaki asked to wait for the results, but the next day Megumi dies, Hiroko is seen crying and comforts her angry and tearful husband. She can be seen together with her husband and with the other villagers at her funeral when Kaori gives her a gift that was bought for Megumi birthday and places it in her grave.
Personality[]
Hiroko is shown to be very empathetic with everyone and takes interest in decorating, and Megumi Shimizu's interest for fashion unlike the rest of the villagers.
Plot[]
On August 12th, Dr. Ozaki goes to Megumi's house where her parents thank him for coming all the way there. He finds that there isn't anything wrong with her physically. She won't eat anything. She doesn't have a fever, just some insect bites. She is found to be anemic. He says that he is going to draw some blood. Her parents are both relieved. Megumi says that she's very sleepy. She can only remember being welcomed by Tatsumi and Seishirou Kirishiki.
Battle against Shiki's[]
When Shiki extermination begins, Hiroko joins other housewives to help their husbands preparing meals and also goes around killing people.
The End[]
Hiroko left the village after the village burnt down, she is seen looking out the mini-bus window.
Etymology[]
- The name Hiroko means "prosperous" (浩) (hiro) and "child" (子) (ko).
- Hiroko's surname Shimizu means "clear, pure, clean" (清) (shi) and "water" (水) (mizu).
